Josh Boothby Wins Ride + Style

This year at Red Bull’s Ride + Style fixed freestyle competition, Josh Boothby went head to head with 32 of the world’s finest and placed first. Dominating the course with backflips and 540′s, Boothby impressed the crowd and judges with even going as far as attempting the first flare to be thrown on a fixed gear. We’re stoked to see Josh make the jump to the top of the podium, and happy to continue support him as he pushes himself further.

Marwin Ou off SE

Marwin Ou is no longer riding for SE as he was given an offer at another company he decided to take. We wish him the best of luck, and to thank him for all the good times and good riding he’s given us, but most of all for keeping it “Compton Style”.

When it came to discussing just how we would put the new Showtime 26″ specific frame prototype through the ringer, one of the ideas that came up was possibly trying to go to camp Woodward West, and with a little help from SE Bikes and Oakley, Josh, DJ, Colby, and myself were able to head out to the camp for a week. We filmed and shot for three solid days, but unfortunately for us the hard drive containing most of the footage filmed of Josh and DJ suffered a hard drive failure. Thankfully Colby had enough clips left to put together an edit showcasing their riding, and documenting Josh’s experience learning and landing a backflip.

We’re incredibly excited to see that even after the punishment the Showtime frame went through while being put to the test by our riders, that it came out unscathed and up to SE’s high standards. The Showtime aims to be one of the most responsive and durable frames in the 26″ specific fixed gear freestyle market. Look for an entry detailing the frame’s highlights, specs, and release date this week.

Los Angeles based clothing label Crooks & Castles has teamed up with SE Bikes to create a limited edition version of the PK Ripper Fixed Gear. Facilitated by SE special projects manager James Banuelos, we’re excited to announce this collaboration of a SE classic as interpreted by veterans of the street wear scene, Crooks & Castles. Taking the aesthetics of the classic PK with floval tubing, wish bone chain stays and Landing Gear forks, Crooks & Castles has spiced up the bike under a Hunting Club motif with a Desert Camo frame and Safety Orange accents offset by a white bars, tires, and Crooks “Elite Medusa” embossed seat.

As part of the collaboration, Crooks & Castles has created a custom tool holster that attaches to the frame. Hand crafted in LA with 100% genuine leather, the holster is limited to 50 pieces available exclusively at Crooks & Castle’s sunset location. A custom desert camo Crooks & Castles X SE Bikes shirt is also available at their LA and online stores.
